Don't Sue Sue Simmons

After 28 years as a local anchor for NBC 11pm news, Sue finally screwed up. She used the "F" word on air when the guy in charge of TV screen shots that coincides with the story being told broadcasted the wrong pix.

Everyone is talking about it today. Why? Cause Sue is Sweaky clean. Unblemished. Pure as pure can be.

All of her fans, including yours truly, truly hope NBC doesn't smack her with a big fine. Or worse yet, can her. They just might use this an an excuse to get rid of another big salary anchor.

That, in my opinion, would be a bad PR move. Everyone is human and Sue should be applauded for her consistency and continuity on air rather than one little bleep.

Do you know why John Mc Cain is going to win in November?

Because the Democrats are going to let him. The same way they let Bush get in. The Democrats always default to inner turmoil.

This is a PR nightmare.

I know nothing about politics but boy do I know about PR. I have been seeing the critical signs of downfall for so long but today after reading statements made by Democrat party Howard Dean, I am totally convinced the Blue team does not have a shot.

The Democrats are busy and constantly calling attention to their disarray. I see this in the business world all the time. It is the same as rearranging the deck chairs on the Titanic.. Instead of capitalizing on their strengths, the Democrats are busy showing us all their warts.

Mc Cain knows the Democrats are doomed. He already has his interior designers and cooks all lined up for the White House. We are going to be seeing a lot of that Turquoise, Southwest look.

Just to insure his win, Mc Cain has been going after Obama. Slice him down now while the Democrats are over cooking him.

Let It Snow, Let It Snow, Let It Snow

I hate the cold winters in New York. I always did. But there is something about snow that makes winters bearable. Snow always signifies a "time out." Everyone has to readjust their schedules, back off into a slower speed, and stop and smell the snow (roses). Deadlines are off. You can use the time to catch up or refect as you see the snowflakes fall before your very eyes.



Snow also reminds me of my childhood. We didn't have computers then. We didn't have to check our emails 100 times a day. We went out and played without feeling we were missing something.



We actually fantasized. More time for it. Sometimes we pretended to be race car drivers as we slid down hills, angels as we traced our bodies in the snow and attention getters by throwing sneaky snow balls.



Now if I am away from Google Reader, Twitter, my emails and voice mails for more than 10 seconds, I feel I missed something.



I long to be disconnected without the addiction known as "wired."



Got to go.......the snow is falling outside but the demands are mounting up inside

Andrea Peyser, NY Post Questions Obama Too

The New York Post endorsed Obama a few weeks ago. I was shocked when the famed NY Post columnist Andrea Peyser called to ask me why I was sending out a flurry of emails asking friends and family to give me specific reasons why they were voting for Obama. I had already received a few nasty emails back because along with my question was an article from a very radical Right Wing Internet newsletter that made some very drastic claims. I thought for sure I was doomed and was going to get clobbered by The New York Post. Yes, The following is proof that writers and columnists have the freedom to express their own opinions.

UH, 'O' - AN 'ISRAEL PROBLEM'

February 18, 2008 -- DOES Barack Obama have an Israel problem? The golden-throated senator has pledged unflagging loyalty to the Jewish state on his campaign Web site, and unequivocal support for Israel's right to defend itself. As far as his staff is concerned, end of story.
But an e-mail has lately flown through the in-boxes of hundreds of influential New Yorkers, mainly Democrats, that poses a simple question: Would a President Obama be good for the Jews?
That depends on whom you ask. And the one asking is not, as Obama staffers suspect, Hillary Clinton, but Lois Whitman, a public-relations executive and die-hard Dem, who's been blown away by the response - pro and con.
Issue No. 1: Obama can't shake his affiliation with the Rev. Jeremiah Wright of Chicago, the spiritual leader from whose sermon Obama took the title of his book "Audacity of Hope."
Last year, Wright bestowed an award on the Rev. Louis Farrakhan - the man who called Judaism a "gutter religion" and Jews "bloodsuckers." He declared Farrakhan one who "epitomized greatness."
But Obama has lately distanced himself from his longtime minister. He called Wright the night before his campaign launch last year to disinvite him from the event. Wright told The New York Times Obama feared "his Jewish support will dry up quicker than a snowball in hell."
Just last month, Obama declared, "Like a member of my own family, there are things he says at times with which I deeply disagree," a statement carefully applauded by the Anti-Defamation League.
Issue No. 2: Obama's had trouble distancing himself from Zbigniew Brzezinski, Jimmy Carter's national security adviser, who claims the United States' special relationship with Israel is the result of Jewish pressure, not mutual good.
While the campaign admits Brzezinski has advised Obama, staffers insist his influence begins and ends on the situation in Iraq.
Is Obama good for Israel? Let's hope he leaves no doubt about the answer.

Strahan Acts Like A Two Year Old

Am I the only one to think that Michael Strahan's behavior at the mic during the Giants' Hero Parade in New York on Tuesday was a little juvenille? I have watched sports for many years and I have marveled at the respect most sports figures show to the competing team. I have often wondered if each team player was media trained because you always hear them compliment and say something good about the other side. Strahan was making fun of the New England Patriots and making gestures that just looked so unprofessional. He only made himself look foolish. I just couldn't believe my eyes especially with the ever so polite and reserved Tom Coughlin as his coach. Let's see how long that smirk is going to stay on Strahan's face. Where is his wife who he allegedly roughed up a few months ago?

I know you feel awful about forgetting your lines this morning on the Today Show but give it up. You do it better in writing and verbal reporting than most over the last 40 plus years. Every day when I pick up the New York Post, I really just don't know how you pour out that copy. You are amazing. You and Liz have done more accurate and continuous reporting in your lifetimes than many five journalists combined. Excuse yourself. You finally showed us your human side.

Eliot Hess Warms Up Pedro's Arm

Pedro Martinez and Mike Piazza live in our condo building in Miami. It is always so weird to see them as ordinary people leading ordinary lives. We have seen Mike around a lot but just recently we have started to see Pedro over and over. After returning to our building Thursday night there was Pedro sitting on a cement bench right in front of the lobby chatting on the telephone. It was about midnight and we just finished celebrating Eliot's birthday at DeVito's with friends.

The minute I see either Pedro or Mike I get nervous because Eliot likes to recognizes celebs with either a handshake or a conversation. My daughter and I cringe because we feel like he is invading their privacy. Eliot takes on the persona like he is the famous one just giving the boys a little encouragement.

Again, Eliot couldn't help himself, after all it was his special day. We didn't know that Pedro was leaving Miami to meet the Mets in Cincinnati. Eliot gave Pedro the high five and Pedro took that ever sensitive, that ever so valuable, right hand, and high fived him back.

Whitney and I couldn't help but give each other looks of despair. Little did we know that Eliot was just helping Pedro train after being out all season because of rotator cuff surgery.

My Image As An Uptown Girl

Every morning I walk my Maltese Coco on 62nd Street and Second Avenue before I get into my car for the 10 block ride to my office. Yes I am very decadent, I drive to work. I pay for two garages in Manhattan and somehow that works out to be less expensive than taking a cab. Of course, the prices I am paying could buy a lovely home in the interiors of the country but who wants to live there.

Anyway I am very fastidious about how I walk my dog, how I clean up after her and how I clean her after she poops.

I carry baby wipes with me at all time so I can clean the sidewalk (I hate leaving residue--or maybe it should be spelled--residoo-from my precious dog for someone to look at) and I like to clean her tush so that nothing smears on me when she is on my lap during the car ride each day.

As luck would have it, every once in a while, when I bend down to clean what sometimes is an awful mess, someone I know is walking by catching me in this process.

The other day a retired mogul from the early days of the home video revolution was on his way to the gym when he spotted me holding a handful of shitty wipes. This morning a gal who I do charity work with tapped me on the shoulder as I was practically on my knees scraping the sidewalk.

Is this how I want people to see me?

Most of the time I am an aggressive businesswoman spewing out information that makes deals and sets policy. This morning I was the mother of a 13 year old Maltese who needs me to wipe her rear.

Now that I think about it, somedays there is little difference between what I have to do at my two jobs.
